About the Department

Berlin Fire Company has three stations and operates 4 engines, 1 ladder, 1 rescue, 1 brush, and 4 utility apparatus running about 400 fire and rescue calls each year. We are always looking for volunteers to join our company.

Why Berlin Fire Company?

The county offers a length of service award program with a $2500 stipend after five years of service and a $10,000 stipend after 25 years of service. After three years of service, active members who obtain 50 points are eligible for the Maryland State Income Tax Subtraction program that reduces your reported income to the State for calculation of income tax purposes. We provide via the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute free fire and rescue training. All of your gear and equipment is provided free of charge to you. We also provide identifying vehicle tags, t-shirt, and polo shirt. There are modest bunkroom and shower facilities should you wish to spend the night as well as TV’s etc. for just coming to the station to be available for calls.
