About the Department

Cresaptown VFD was formed in 1933 to provide fire suppression for Cresaptown and its surrounding communities. Cresaptown provides primary fire suppression and EMS for the Cresaptown and Bel-Air communities, as well as EMS services for the Bowling Green and Rawlings communities. Cresaptown also provides first aid/EMS services for all events at the Allegany County Fairgrounds. Cresaptown provides all fire services 100% volunteer with EMS being supported with providers from Allegany County Department of Emergency Services.

Cresaptown currently operates 1 Engine, 1 Engine-Rescue, 1 Engine-Tanker, 1 Heavy Rescue, 3 ALS ambulances, and multiple support vehicles. Cresaptown is also a part of Allegany county special operations, having members involved in multiple aspects of the team and housing apparatus used for the rope rescue and swift water rescue teams.

Why Creasaptown Volunteer Fire Department?

Cresaptown VFD is one of the few companies in Allegany county which provides fire, rescue, and EMS under the same roof. This allows for cross-training of members in fire and EMS without them needing to join an additional company. Cresaptown also offers the ability for members to be involved with many of the county’s special operations teams.

Cresaptown is a busy company for Allegany county responding to a total of 1,925 calls in 2023, with 363 fire and 1,562 EMS. Cresaptown responds mutual aid throughout the county including into the City of Cumberland, allowing members respond to a variety of incidents.
